this is less of a recent new obsession, and more of a recent new fascination.

feral children.

Feral children are children that have been abandoned, neglected, or have run away and have proceeded to be taken in if you will, or "adopted" by animals.

It's crazy interesting. An example of animals that have been reported to take in abandoned children are wolves, monkeys, bears, chickens, goats, dogs, leopards, sheep, cows and even gazelles. These children usually spend an extended period of time only with the animals, without any human contact, many for years and years. One example is of a Turkish girl who was found when she was 9 years old, after spending 8 years in the wild, being raised by bears.

This whole thing came up after watching the diz version of Tarzan the other night and wondering if shit like that actually happened to people. and it does! there are actually a lot of cases of it happening.

Feral children, are also grouped with isolated and confined children and many of the cases are heartbreaking.
