This is a sign that was put up at a Washington Courthouse and has since then been stolen and replaced. Now I'm wondering--as much as I personally agree with this sign and want one for my living room, i'm not sure if it's placement is appropriate.

Yes, i detest nativity scenes infront of government buildings, i don't believe in the bible, and don't that you should swear with a hand on it infront of the judge. But I also think displaying this sign, is as bad as a sign displaying bible verses. And although many of the free thinking people out there are rooting for ridding the government of religion, this adds to it.

However, with the presence of christianity in the courthouse, a part of me thinks it is fair to display this sign since without some sort of opposing current, there may never be a separation of church and state. It's like cleaning cereal bowls, no matter how hard you scrub, the frosted flakes just stick to the bottom of the bowl. Then you can never eat anything out of that bowl but cereal! Damnit.

I didnt know it was stolen, I thought it was just taken down because the mayor was getting too much shit for allowing it.

the one i read about said it was stolen then thrown in the yard of a radio station or something like that. But i guess there have been others of this same sign.. so i'm sure that is the case somewhere.
